Maths Algebra Puzzle

3 clocks = 30
Therefore, 1 clock represents 10

1 clock + 2 drums = 40
Since 1 clock represents 10
10 + 2 drums = 40
Therefore, 1 drum represents 15

2 drums + 1 pumpkin = 44

Total Defence Day

1) What is my role in Total Defence?

When there happens to be a war happening, I can help my family by being alert and calm. (e.g helping them when they are injured)

2) What resources does Singapore need in the 21st Century and how can I contribute, now and in the future?

Singapore will need the next generation of leaders to lead and improve life in Singapore. I can help by studying hard so as to find a stable job to help boost Singapore's economy.

12 Jan (02): History of numbers... & Numbers as a language

A unary numeration system is another number system. How to use the unary numeration system?
To use the unary numeration system is very easy. in order to represent Number X. The tally mark like this " l " will repeat X times.
(e.g 5 = " lllll ")

In Brazil and France, the number 5 is not written like this " lllll " but using four "sticks" to form a square and another one to cross the square diagonally.

To write 2010 in unary numeration system is IMPOSSIBLE i surfed the net to see if there is any way to write the number 0 but they all said it was impossible.

Personal Reflection (Sarimbun Camp)

I had learnt to cooperate better during group activities. Learnt to improve my communications with my friends and I also learnt why teamwork is so important.

I can be more involved in group activities and help to make it better. And also get to know my friends better.

I will choose the RAFTING activity as some of our friends were actually left out and were not having anything to do as the job allocation was not done good enough but it was good as those who were left out were trying to help out and were also cheering us up.

I would want to get to know more friends as I do not know everybody in the class yet.

6 Jan. The Amazing Race, Debrief(II) Personal Reflection

I think that the school value,"Expanding Our Learning Network", means that we need to expand our network and at the same time
ask the people in your network who has a certain level of knowledge questions you do not understand. And by doing that you are "Learning".

This school value is very important.Example, when I have a question to ask I can seek help for the teachers but as a "back-up" we can ask our people in network the questions.

5 Jan. Team Building Challenge - Debrief (II) Personal Reflection

I feel that "Forging Excellence" means that I need to give my best to everything I do. I must not give just 50% but 100%!!!

I think that i possessed the strengths such as being responsible and persevering attitude.

I should cultivate myself to be more daring and to have more confident in myself. i need to be more daring so that I will be able to understand what the teacher is talking about as I will need to ask questions when I am not clear.

I suggest that we make all of us to have a chance to participate in all activities and to find a leader that can gather up everyone
and give a same amount of work to everyone so that no one will feel left out. Those that were left out must also ask for something to do from the Leader or the Project Manager.

4 Jan. MacBridge Activity 1 - School Vision (II)

I think that school exchange whether will help us be connected globally. We can also work together with schools to discuss about a certain educational topic that will help us connect or connect globally and to have an institution of science and technology.

4 Jan. Bridge Building Activity Debrief (II)

I felt good working with the team as they are very friendly and willing to talk.

I think that my group and I have some problems communicating as some are not serious at work and always playing a fool.

During the Bridge Building Activity, I learnt that I needed to have a good planning to get avoid encountering more problems, as my group did not plan throughly about building the bridge. We encounter several problems but despite of the setbacks we managed to find solutions to it.

I experienced some discomfort as they were not serious at work and always inattentive.

At the end, with the help and advices from our teacher, Miss Seah, we managed to get back to work at the last 40 minutes although we will have a lot of touch-up to do, we had learn our lesson.

Activity 1: Blogging With Blogger, Task 1 (Part 2)

After creating this blog, I feel that it is a very useful application that can help in my learning experience in SST. When one of my friend post something on his blog and I happen to pass by his blog, I can comment on his post to help him change it to a post that is easier to understand and to ensure that the infomation is correct.

Activity 1: Blogging With Blogger, Task 1 (Part 1)

When I received the letter that confirms my posting I was very excited. As it was a very different way of learning compared to the other schools. On the other side, I was overwhelmed as I wanted to get into the School of Science and Technology, Singapore when I heard about it.
